We use high-quality ingredients focused on being natural and good for sensitive skin. We use Quality Cosmetic grade oils in all of our Soaps and Balms.
Cosmetic-grade Oils are preferred for skin care products over food grade oils for many reasons. The refining process is meant to remove allergens, unstable compounds, and impurities, resulting in a neutral scent, higher oxidative stability, and stricter heavy metal limit ideal for direct skin contact. These refined oils are more hypoallergenic for sensitive skin, have a more stable shelf-life for scent and color, and reduce risk of oxidation.
While both food-grade and cosmetic-grade oils can successfully be used in these products, the strict cosmetic regulatory standards of the cosmetic-grade oils are the preferred grade for sensitive-skin compatibility, shelf stability, and purity in natural skin products.
We chose to use Fragrance oils and essential oils in our products.
We use Ohio made Fragrance Oils that are Phthalate Free, Paraben Free, SLS + SLES Free, Vegan and Cruelty Free. We chose fragrance oils for our soap for superior scent retention, consistency in performance, skin-safe tested formulations, and a wider pallet.
We use Essential Oils in our Balms for their many medicinal properties.
Both Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils can trigger skin-sensitivities which is why we also make an Unscented version of both our Cold Process Soap and our Tallow Balm.

Store unused soap in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight and humidity.

While cold process soap does not have a traditional experation date, it is thought to be best used within 12 - 18 months of production for maximum lather and scent enjoyment. The soap will still clean for many years past its production date although scent, color, and moisturizing properties may fade.

To keep your soap lasting the longest, ensure you let it air dry between uses. Store it in a dry location with air flow.
Allowing soap to cure longer ultimately makes it last longer while being used, so buy a whole brick to last you the full year!
